Hej! (Hi! In Danish). My name is Shirley and I’m a junior (class of 2024) from New York City, studying molecular biology and on the pre-med track. During the fall of my junior year, I studied in Copenhagen, Denmark at DIS Copenhagen. Prior to my semester abroad, I had never traveled outside of the tristate area before, and so traveling was a huge priority in selecting my program! At DIS Copenhagen, I took classes encompassing a wide range of disciplines, including public health, cancer biology, urban planning, food anthropology and medical anthropology. One of the highlights of my semester was cycling along the harbors and searching for the Forgotten Giants. Reflecting on my semester abroad, studying in Copenhagen was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Beyond the nice Instagram photos and “I’ve been there” gratification, studying abroad allowed me to be more comfortable in my own skin, forge life-long friendships, learn about my values, widen my perspectives and challenge my preconceptions on ways of life. Copenhagen will always remain a special city to me and one that I will forever keep thinking of coming back to.

Student organization(s) I'm a part of at Princeton:
