Hi! My name is Owen Travis and I am from Evanston, Illinois, a suburb just north of Chicago. In my free time, I love meeting up with my friends to play tennis, throw the Frisbee, or head down to the beach for some Spikeball. While my favorite place to be is outdoors, I also enjoy reading, writing short stories, listening to all types of music, especially hip-hop and the oldies, and playing the violin. Since I started taking lessons in kindergarten, violin has brought me together with friends, through the school orchestra, and family members, who share my love for music. Throughout my time in school, I participated in a wide range of activities, such as the Emerge Community Development Program, the YMCA Power Scholars, peer tutoring, and the varsity tennis team. However, some of my greatest interests lie in math and science, which I plan to pursue at Princeton and hope to draw upon while abroad. I am so excited to be a part of Bridge Year and I cannot wait for all that I will learn, explore, contribute, and experience while in Indonesia!
