I had the opportunity to work on the Investment Law and Policy team during my summer internship in the Geneva office of (IISD), an award-winning independent think tank working to create a world where people and the planet can thrive together. The Investment team, under the Economic Law and Policy Program, collaborates with governments, international institutions, academics, and civil society to develop legal and policy tools that link investment to sustainable social, economic, and environmental outcomes. They examine how to improve the institutions, rules, and practices that govern international investment flows and publish independent and thought-provoking research.
I drafted various pieces for their quarterly newsletter, provided support for their investment treaty consultancy projects, researched legal provisions related to fossil fuel phaseouts, and assisted in the organization of their annual policy forum. In my downtime and on the weekends, I explored the Swiss Alps, attended the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival, visited the lake, and explored all that Geneva has to offer!
