Hi I’m Minh. In Spring 2024 I study abroad in Nantes, France, through IES Abroad. I have been taking French since high school, and I truly wanted to leap the final hurdle and reach true fluency. Prior to this I had the good fortune of studying with Princeton in Aix-en-Provence in Summer 2023. While in France, I took various courses: France and the EU, Gastronomy, Translation, Theatre, and of course French. Why Nantes? Because it is a lovely city but not too touristy, forcing you to interact and live in French. Like any journey there are ups and downs, things you could have or should have done more (for me that was traveling). But at the end of the day, it was a truly beautiful experience. No one I know regretted their study abroad experience, so do it while you can at Princeton! Happy to talk about language immersion, living with host family, writing a JP while abroad, and truly anything that might help you.
