Bio/Description

Mariella Diaz is an Assistant Director of the International Internship Program (IIP) in the Office of International Programs, where she advises students interested in internships in Latin America. Mariella is an international education professional with an M.F.A in creative writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an M.A in Education Leadership from Montclair State University. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and growing up in Newark, New Jersey, her active community engagement would develop the foundation for her interests in diversity and inclusion; evoking a deeper passion for creating access to education and experiences abroad for our undergraduates. As the primary IIP liaison for the region, Mariella strongly believes these partnerships develop student success by catering to their professional goals, creating reflective personal experiences, establishing strong foundations for career proficiencies, while gathering new perspectives through exposure to diverse backgrounds. Her own experience abroad during her undergraduate and graduate careers continues to impress upon her research in international internships and education.
