Major: Comparative Literature
College: New College West
International Experience: CUPA & SOAS
Location: Paris, France & London, England

Hi there! I’m currently a junior in the Comparative Literature department, specializing in French and Korean literature with certificates in Creative Writing and Asian American Studies. I’m originally from Austin, Texas. I spent my entire junior year abroad, with the fall semester in Paris and the spring semester in London. At CUPA in Paris, I was in a full French immersion program, taking courses at Université Paris 8 and Sorbonne Nouvelle and living in a homestay. I was able to take a creative writing class in French and learn about French and Algerian culture through my host mom. In London, I studied literature and Korean language at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies). With classes such as Korean-English translation and Screen Cultures (looking at films from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Subsaharn Africa), I was able to access a new level of depth in the subjects that I’m interested in. In my free time, I went to see shows at West End and got to interrail through Europe. My year abroad was absolutely invaluable; it opened my eyes to so many different ways of living and gave me a sense of confidence in moving to a completely new environment. On campus, I’m also part of the Lewis Center Student Advisors, the Asian American Students Association, and work on translation in my free time. I’d love to answer any questions you might have about studying abroad!
