Bio/Description

Jiyeon McHugh is an Assistant Director of the International Internship Program (IIP) in the Office of International Programs. She comes to the office with ten years of experience working in professional study abroad, higher education, and cultural exchange. Prior to joining IIP, Jiyeon worked in Columbia University’s Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement where she advised students on both the immediate and long-term outcomes of studying abroad. Her area of expertise lies in the East Asian regions, but she has organized global experiences all around the world. Jiyeon holds a B.A. in East Asian Studies and Chinese language from Bates College and an M.A. in East Asian Studies with a focus on Chinese domestic policy and minority culture studies from Columbia University. Jiyeon has traveled extensively throughout China and hopes to return again soon with a larger crew: her husband and two kids.

Jiyeon advises students for IIPs in Australia, East / Southeast Asia, and STEM IIPs in Europe (Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Poland, and the UK).
