This summer, I interned at the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe. I worked with Professor Hiromi Yokoyama in her lab which focuses on ethical, legal, and social issues in science and technology studies. Our research examined public attitudes and ethical concerns regarding generative AI in healthcare in Japan. I developed an AI ethics measurement tool and conducted a survey to assess public agreement with generative AI applications in healthcare and to evaluate public concerns across various ethical dimensions. Through my research and travels, I gained insights into how Japanese society integrates and utilizes technology, reflecting the country’s unique characteristics. In my free time, I explored different regions of the country, learned about its history, and enjoyed the beautiful landscapes.
