Internship site: Qatar Computing Research Institute, Doha, Qatar
Tell us a little about your IIP, any fun projects you are engaging with, and what has been rewarding? As someone who had never traveled abroad before, Doha was an exhilarating experience. I loved engaging with the various cultures and getting to practice my Arabic with native speakers. The environment was very welcoming, especially among my fellow international interns. It was incredibly rewarding to be able to meet other students from around the world who were studying/interning in Qatar, and we got to explore the city together. In particular, I loved visiting the cultural landmarks and learning about the history of Qatar. Falconry, pearl diving, and the prevalence of traditional architecture are just a few of my favorite aspects of the Qatari culture.
Do you have tips for future interns? Exploring the region is more fun as a group, especially when you have some locals that know the best spots to eat, hang out, and have fun. I really enjoyed spending time with fellow interns, even if it was just going to the mall or grabbing lunch. My experience wouldn't be the same without them, so I definitely recommend exploring as a squad!

I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other.” - Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
