Major: Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
International Experience: Princeton in Kenya
Location: Laikipia, Kenya
Hi everyone! My name is Chelsea P. Espinosa and I am a senior, concentrating in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with a minor in Global Health & Health Policy. I am also a pre-med student. Outside the classroom, I am involved with Meals on Wheels, SIFP, and I serve as a PAA at Wilson College.
I am from Hillsborough, NJ. Before Princeton, I had only traveled to Colombia to visit extended family. So far in my three years at Princeton, I have gone to Ecuador with my Spanish for a Medical Mission in Ecuador with the amazing Professor Paloma Moscardó-Vallés, Uganda for an IIP, and I have studied abroad in Kenya.
In the spring of junior year, I took advantage of EEB’s study abroad program in Kenya. It was the best decision I had made. It was a time in my Princeton career when I needed a break from campus and learn in a different environment. Little did I know that Mpala Research Center in Laikipia, Kenya was the place I needed to be.
My favorite parts of traveling are observing distinct landscapes and meeting new people. After graduation, I plan to take two glide years and spend one year abroad either conducting research, participating in an internship or teaching English.
