Major: Economics
College: Mathey
International Experience: Berlin Consortium for German Studies
Location: Berlin, Germany
I was so lucky to have decided to go to Berlin with the Berlin Consortium for German Studies. I had to learn a language for the A.B. requirement. I picked German because I was interested in the culture and Germany’s cities. I took 101 in freshman fall, then 1025 and 107 over the summer in Vienna, but I still didn’t have much experience really being immersed in the language. I decided to study abroad sophomore spring, and I’m so glad I did. The semester started in March and ended in July, giving me plenty of time in the city during its best times of the year. I was able to focus on topics outside of my major, allowing me to explore more interests, but also remind myself why I loved economics. I’m from a small town, so a big city, new surroundings, and an unfamiliar language were very challenging, but in the end even more rewarding, and I made some really awesome friends from all over Europe and the US. On campus, I am involved with the Nassau Weekly, Princeton Running Club. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, reading, and listening to podcasts.
