As a student majoring in Public and International Affairs aspiring to work with an international organization in the future, my time with the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) was truly transformative. The International Service for Human Rights works to support human rights defenders across the global through help with advocacy, legal advice, campaigning, and more.
With the support of my Streicker fellowship, I served as an operations intern with the organization for 3 months in Geneva, Switzerland. During this time, I actively participated in events at the United Nations, provided detailed reports on special procedures nominations and Human Rights Council state selections, conducted research on US-based donors for ISHR, facilitated the Human Rights Development Advocacy program, and assisted in organizing a virtual gala for UNARC. Moreover, I had the privilege of connecting with and learning from numerous human rights defenders across the globe, developing lasting relationships with inspiring individuals. I am excited to carry their advice and my newfound experience and knowledge with me as I navigate a career path that continues to advance human rights.
Outside of work, I went to places in Switzerland, such as Zurich, Grindewald, Montreux, and Interlaken. I went to the Montreux Jazz festival in the country, went zip lining in the Swiss Alps, and went to a music festival in Zurich.
