Bio/Description

This summer, I worked as an Editorial Intern at Elephant Magazine in London, a contemporary art's coverage magazine with a non-hierarchical approach to its coverage. The magazine is highly regarded in London and the art world beyond and publishes reviews, essays and interviews with artists, curators, or art world personalities.

My primary duty was editing articles from our writers and preparing them for publication for the online site. Alongside my editorial tasks, however, I had the chance to be a staff-writer for the magazine, finishing the summer with four published articles online. Not only did I learn the ins and outs of running a contemporary arts magazine, but I learned the ins and outs of the larger art world scene in London (and beyond), which was an experience I can only owe to being able to be in the city itself. I attended weekly PR meetings with galleries, institutions and museums, and acquired the communication skills needed to operate smoothly within the London art scene. More importantly though, I came out of the internship believing in myself and my skills, which has ultimately prepared me for the world in a way that just staying on campus at school cannot. During my time off, I visited the countryside, had picnics in Hyde park, gallery hopping, and watching football games.
