Tell us a little about your IIP, any fun projects you are engaging with, and what has been rewarding? : METAL Magazine is an arts and fashion magazine, and I'm working directly with its content editor to produce articles for the site. I'm currently setting up an interview with a Brazil-born, Berlin-based DJ who did a set at Primavera Sound! I've appreciated having the opportunity to just sit and write and receive immediate feedback on my work. I get so busy during the school year that writing can sometimes feel like a chore. At METAL I write everyday, which I really enjoy.
Do you have tips for future interns? Definitely research Barcelona's local arts and culture scene! Your editor will have pitches for you, but the staff at METAL also really appreciate when you come in with your own ideas and interests. For example, because I am very interested in film, I plan on doing research in that area with the hopes of increasing METAL's film coverage!
A famous person (any era) that you'd love to have dinner with: I would really love to have dinner with Jordan Peele. He's still relatively young and has already done so much impactful for work for film as an art form, as well as its capacity to express complex social issues like racism and classism in America. Definitely someone whom I find very inspiring!
