Legal Backlog in La Plata – La Plata, Argentina
I drove two hours with my coworkers, to scan the legal documents necessary to review the case of a man from La Plata, who claimed he'd been wrongfully convicted. Waiting in the lobby of the city courthouse, they continued to tell us that they couldn't find the documents we needed. Eventually they found them, but only after three hours of waiting, at which point we no longer had enough time to scan all 2000 pages before the courthouse closed. Tired and mad, I saw this pile of ignored documents, in an area that was off-limits.

House of Culture –Kas, Turkey
Culture, though abstract and often undefinable, is vividly captured in the mesmerizing decoration of this wall, adorned with a kaleidoscope of objects and dreamcatchers. It's a vibrant testament to the idea that culture not only dwells within the hearts of people but also in the spaces they call home.

Torii at Night –Kyoto, Japan
Fushimi Inari is a crowded shrine at day, but it is desolate at night. The thousand gates cast ominous shadows.

Gamcheon Culture Village' – Busan, South Korea
During my three-day trip in Busan, seeing all these colorful houses in the horizon, I took a shaky bus up the side of the mountain and was met with this view. As I walked around this village on the mountain, I met many cats, saw colorful murals, and got directions from very kind residents. I was surprised by how serene it was, despite being a popular tourist spot.

More than It Could Chew –Nanyuki, Kenya
A Rufous-crowned Roller, native to East Africa, holds a grasshopper nearly the size of its face in its beak. This bird spent over half an hour trying (and failing) to eat this massive grasshopper, proving that catching the prey is only half the battle!

Carnevale di Venezia – Venice, Italy
This photograph was captured at the Venice Carnival in 2023. I was struck by the vividness of the duo’s costumes, from the woman’s electric aquamarine hair, vibrant violet lipstick, and metallic nail polish to her intricately embellished headdress and the man’s butterfly-adorned top hat. I also loved the eccentricity of the pair’s non-traditional Venetian ensemble, the creativity of the costume, and the expressiveness of their faces.

Reflection – Labuan Bajo, Indonesia
Looking over Komodo National Park, I am reminded of not only the region's beauty but also its vulnerability. Beyond the thin, glittering veil of recent tourism is a struggle of government-funded cultural erasure and unsustainability. The view is both a memory of my local experience and a source of motivation to support the real Indonesia I have come to love.
